Tea time II

From an early age, women are taught to navigate a world shaped by predefined roles and expectations. Kindness, care, and sensitivity are often presented as the defining qualities of femininity, while strength, independence, and complexity remain overlooked. Through an atmosphere that balances between the familiar and the unsettling, this work explores the narratives passed down through generations and the ways they shape female identity from childhood onward.

Notes on the Work

Built through expressive brushwork and loose charcoal marks, these figures embrace imperfection rather than idealisation. Their worn and unsettling appearance serves as a reminder of impermanence and the inevitable changes that accompany all living things. Beauty and refinement are not lasting conditions, nor are they measures of worth. What remains meaningful is the history carried within each mark, each trace of time, and each sign of transformation.
