Tea time I

From an early age, women are taught to navigate a world shaped by predefined roles and expectations. Kindness, care, and sensitivity are often presented as the defining qualities of femininity, while strength, independence, and complexity remain overlooked. Through an atmosphere that balances between the familiar and the unsettling, this work explores the narratives passed down through generations and the ways they shape female identity from childhood onward.

Notes on the Work

The tension within the gesture reveals a quiet form of resistance. The way the doll is held suggests neither play nor care, but the exhaustion that comes from constantly performing prescribed roles and expectations. A subtle movement that conveys frustration, weariness, and the desire to break free from identities imposed from an early age.
